Craig Peritz (USA, 1968) ha lavorato come attore, regista e scrittore per oltre 25 anni. Ha una laurea in scienze politiche presso l'Università del Maine e ha studiato recitazione alla Juilliard School. Il suo lavoro e la sua vita sono stati  fortemente influenzati dalla guida di Judith Malina, Hanon Reznikov, Joseph Chaikin e Mark Hall Amitin.

Nel 1997, entra a far parte del The Living Theatre con il quale ha creato decine di giochi in tre diversi continenti in varie lingue. Nel 2011, inizia la sua collaborazione con Alfonso Bergamo e ottiene  un ruolo da protagonista nel cortometraggio ,The Labyrinth, seguita dalla composizione nel 2012, che ha co-interpretato come co-autore sempre  con Bergamo.. Oltre alla sua collaborazione con Look Inside, insegna recitazione presso l'Unione Europea Accademia di Teatro e Cinema a Roma, lavorando anche come attore, regista, voice-over artista e traduttore.

-Quando ti sei accostato per la prima volta al mondo artistico?-

-Ero molto piccolo...ricordo appena -Un flash:  In Sinagoga, ascoltavo musica  - ma quando avevo 9 anni, mio padre mi portò a vedere la produzione di Joseph Papp dell' Opera: Quattro Soldi di Bertolt Brecht al Central Park a New York con Raul Julia, per  la regia del mito di Off-Broadway Richard Forman. Rimasi estasiato e compresi subito che tipo di lavoro avrei svolto...più tardi, con Judith Malina al Living Theatre! 

-Cosa ti spinge a continuare questo percorso?-

-Credo che l'arte sia il più grande atto rivoluzionario, non violento!-

-Chi ringrazieresti per il successo ottenuto?-

"Devo molto alla mia famiglia. Mi ha insegnato ad amare e a rispettare gli altri. Devo tanto al fatto che ho avuto dei grandi maestri come  Judith Malina, Joe Chaikin, Hanon Reznikov, Mark Amitin tra altri. Oggi ringrazio  Alfonso Bergamo e la produttrice Erika Fava, ma anche il produttore Andrea Giunti (mi ha fatto conoscere Alfonso un ex-allievo... amico e co-attore, Mario Paradiso, quindi ringrazio pure lui!) Sto vivendo questa nuova avventura nel mondo del cinema ed è  veramente fantastica! Devo ringraziare soprattutto la mia musa, il suo nome significa Grazia, Bellezza, Saggezza - molto difficili da trovare  al giorno d'oggi!...

-Il tuo ultimo progetto?-

 "Mi sto preparando per la premiere privata del primo lungometraggio di Alfonso Bergamo. E' davvero emozionante per me. Sono coautore ed  interpreto il coprotagonista. Certo sono un pò ansioso...trovo tutto entusiasmante!  Ma la cosa fantastica e che non si discute  sono le persone che hanno fatto parte del progetto. Tutta la squadra...Lavorare con Alfonso è molto  gratificante perché riesce ad "inviare" messaggi importanti, pur rischiando, e poi, è un perfezionista assoluto nel cercare di realizzare questo progetto"

-Per ritenerti soddisfatto, con quale regista o autore vorresti lavorare?-

"Werner Herzog e Wim Wenders"

-Tre parole per definirti?-

"Fallimentare, Inutile, Determinato! "

-Se tornassi indietro cosa non rifaresti?-

"Non vorrei mai tornare indietro per paura di non trovarmi esattamente dove sono ora. Ma..." Le Cigarette" è  la cosa più stupida che abbia mai fatto!"

Non ci resta che attendere la Premiere Privata che avverrà a Roma il 21 giugno prossimo,  per conoscere le altre news che Craig puntualmente ci racconterà!

Tender Eyes, The Movie: Craig Peritz on the role of Gilbert and fly to Rome for the Private Premiere!

The co-author will be one of the players chosen by director Alfonso Bergamo!  

Craig Peritz (USA, 1968) has worked as an actor, director and writer for over twenty-five years. He has a political science degree from The University of Maine and also studied acting at The Juilliard School. His work and life was greatly influenced by the guidance of Judith Malina, Hanon Reznikov, Joseph Chaikin and Mark Hall Amitin. In 1997, he became part of The Living Theatre with which he created dozens of plays on three different continents in various languages. In 2011, he began his collaboration with Alfonso Bergamo and Look Inside with a lead role in the short film THE LABYRINTH, followed by THE COMPOSITION in 2012, which he co-starred in as well as co-wrote with Bergamo. He is currently working on Look Inside's first full-length production scheduled for shooting in 2013. Besides his collaboration with Look Inside, he teaches acting at the European Union Academy of Theatre and Cinema in Rome while also working as an actor, director, voice-over artist and translator.

-When you approached for the first time in the world "artistic"?-

"There were earlier moments - in synagogue, hearing music (memories that date back beyond lucid memory - flashes) - but when I was around 9 years old, my dad brought us to see the Joseph Papp Production of Bertolt Brecht's Three Penny Opera in Central Park starring Raul Julia and directed by off-broadway legend Richard Foreman. I was amazed. And it was strangely indicative of the kind of work I would come to do in the theatre later on with Judith Malina and the Living Theatre."

-And today, what drives you to continue this path?-

"I believe that art is THE great absolutely non-violent revolutionary act."

-Who would you thank for the success?-

"I owe a great deal to my family. They taught me to love learning and to respect others. I owe a great deal to having great masters - Judith Malina, Joe Chaikin, Hanon Reznikov, Mark Amitin among others. Thanks to Alfonso Bergamo and producers Erika Fava and Andrea Giunti (Mario Paradiso, my former student, friend and fellow actor introduced us, so I owe him, too!) I'm having this new film adventure and it's been totally fantastic. I should thank my muse, too, whose name means Grace, Beauty, Wisdom - rare things to find these days..."

-Tell me about your last "project"-

"Now I'm getting ready for the premiere of Alfonso Bergamo's first full-length feature. It's really exciting for me. I co-wrote and co-star, so it's a little terrifying, too. But the indisputably wonderful thing are the people involved. The whole team. And working with Alfonso is immensely gratifying because he really wants to say important things, he takes huge risks, and he's an unrelenting perfectionist in going after his vision." -In order to realize your dream, with which the director or author would like to work?- "Werner Herzog and Wim Wenders"

-In three words...-

"Failure, Useless, Determined"

-If you could go back what not to do again?-

"I would never go back for fear of not being exactly where I am now. But: smoking - dumbest thing I ever did."
